LSA 45 CLASS MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: AMY LANE
Leadership San Antonio is recognizing several exemplary members who are going above and beyond during the COVID-19 crisis. Today’s spotlight is on North East ISD’s Amy Lane.
What do you do?
I serve on the 20-person leadership team of North East ISD as the Executive Director of Partnerships. This role connects our business community with our 65,000 students, 9,000 employees and 90,000 parents through career-day speaking, employee perks and marketing and engagement opportunities.
I also lead the North East Educational Foundation (NEEF) as their Executive Director on a board of 40 local community leaders. Our mission is to increase innovative programs within NEISD.
How do you uniquely contribute to San Antonio (during this time)?
-Our NEEF Board has raised almost $20,000 for essential supplies and food for families within NEISD who have lost their jobs.
-I connect our community partners with district needs. During the month of May, we are partnering with the Food Bank to host 4 food drives for NEISD families. The last drive served 1,800 families.
-In late March, my department started a mask-drive for our cafeteria staff serving on the front line every day. In a month and a half, they served over a million meals to our students and needed more personal protection gear. We were able to get enough donated to last them through this crisis.
-Teacher Appreciation week fell during this crisis as did our Teacher of the Year program. We partnered with local businesses to make our teachers feel appreciated and special with new “employee perks” that were also designed to bring new business to our partners–a win-win!
I love LSA because … LSA surrounds you with energetic, like-minded leaders who are all wanting to learn more about each other and our community. It’s a great environment for networking and for finding ways to give back. I love the way it is organized and that each class day holds new surprises about our great city!
How can LSA show we care and are ready to help?
I’m just hoping to create awareness of North East ISD and the North East Educational Foundation. In particular during this time, how diverse our district is and that we have many families in need. The LSA family can help the most just by knowing who we are and sharing that information with their personal and professional circles.
